The Durban Green Corridor is a multi-faceted initiative that focuses on transforming Durban’s rivers and green spaces into vibrant hubs for eco-tourism, recreation and conservation. This Durban tourist attraction is both a cultural and environmental conservation project.

The efforts to rehabilitate and conserve the river’s ecosystems, including water quality improvement, removal of invasive species and habitat restoration. The rivers include the Umgeni river and the umhlatuzana river. They have litter booms which have been carefully positioned to work with river currents and prevailing winds, the litterbooms work to prevent trash traveling down the rivers leading to the ocean.

They offer great recreational activities such as hiking trails, where the hikes start along Umgeni river and lead up to one of the hills where the views are magnificent.
